allegiance to men or to country

They supported King George during the American Revolution. They supported Hitler in his rise to power in Germany, and now, they support a corrupt/treasonous administration here in the United States. It seems in every age there is a group of people who refuse to say “no” to power. No logic or persuasion will work, they are committed to their allegiance to the power brokers, not their country.

I’ve decided that I can not reach out and try to convince them any longer,… there is too much other work to be done. For ideas, MoveOn.org has what they call an ActionForum. Lots of ideas and potential paths to get the country back on track.

ActionForums are structured to promote a productive dialogue by automatically filtering out inappropriate or marginally relevant comments. They make clear where agreement and disagreement lie and foster collaborative problem solving.

So, bush admits to spying illegally, without search warrants on American citizens. Why, I wonder, would he do that? I mean, why would he do it illegally, when the FISA court is so lenient in giving out warrants. The court has only denied 5 (five !!!) warrants out of 20,000. So, other than the arrogant attitude that as “king” he doesn’t need a warrant, why would he do that? Probably because he knows that the warrants would be denied.

What could possibly be so over the top, that he wouldn’t want to make it public? How about spying on his political opponents. While people argue about whether he is extending the power of the presidency, he is merely trying to maintain his power by spying on Democrats or anyone else that could threaten his power.

I mean, I’m just sayin’… think about it.

he has broken the law

Okay,… I’ve posted this before, but here it is again:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” - oath of office

Simple, no? It is not to protect the people of the United States as bush is so fond of spouting, it is to protect the Constitution. The US’s ultimate law and consequently the ultimate protector of our way of life.

We know that this administration has spied on its own citizens bypassing court approval, spied on and collected information on legitimate political organizations, has fought for the ability to torture (see the 8th amendment), has established “sneak and peak” powers with the Patriot Act (see the 4th amendment) and taken every opportunity to destroy the United States Constitution (peruse the amendments and see how many other violations you can find), screeching “terrorism” as the excuse.

Why has this fraud and the rest of his flying monkeys not been impeached? Even if people know the impeachment process will fail, he needs to, at a very minimum, be brought up on charges of violating his oath of office.

bush and company is destroying the country. He must be removed from office (not that he ever belonged there). Here’s what the constitution says:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. - US Constitution

He has broken the law. I’m not saying execute him. I don’t think revenge works to anyone’s betterment. I’m saying remove him from the oval office… now… before he does more damage.

On the History Channel site, there’s a history of Christmas essay that is very enlightening.

Each year, during the month of December, millions of homes across America are decorated with Christmas trees and fairy lights.

I tried to resist the hype,… I really did, but when I got an email similar to this video I couldn’t help but smile.

goodnight moon

A friend of mine sent me a link to a New York Times Op-Ed piece, with the following intro:

“Goodnight Moon,” the children’s classic by Margaret Wise Brown, has gone smoke free. In a newly revised edition of the book, which has lulled children to sleep for nearly 60 years, the publisher, HarperCollins, has digitally altered the photograph of Clement Hurd, the illustrator, to remove a cigarette from his hand. HarperCollins said it made the change to avoid the appearance of encouraging smoking.

The author of the column, Karen Karbo, then precedes to list the things in the illustration that could use improvement, such as (my favorite):

F. Given proximity and brightness of stars and moon, it’s apparent that Bunny’s room is in a high rise. Both windows lack either locks or any type of window guard or restraining device. Suggested change: To avoid the appearance of encouraging children to peer out of unsafe windows, and thus tumble to their deaths, digitally remove windows. Bunny can easily bid goodnight to a moon painted on the wall with nontoxic, lead-free paint.

It’s a hilarious column, with an accompanying illustration from the original book, conviently labeled. Give yourself a fun break and go read it.

Giants and Cowboys

The Seattle Seahawks know that they were outplayed and dodged the proverbial bullet when they limped away with a win against the Giants last week.

I would think the Giants are more than ready to meet (and beat) the Dallas Cowboys tomorrow. The Giants are probably pretty angry about the Seahawk game, and they have proven to themselves that they are a high caliber team. The last time they played the Cowboys, Dallas won by a field goal in overtime. I suspect this upcoming game may not be as close as people think it will be.
