the devil

tell me why Meryl Streep should not at least be nominated for an academy award.

I’ve seen a few movies since I received the copy of The Devil Wears Prada. I have not lost my favorable opinion of Meryl Streep‘s performance. She is wonderful. In what could easily be a cartoonish performance is revealed, instead, as a performance of grace and subtlety. I’m not as impressed with the rest of the cast though. Not because anyone acts poorly, but more because Streep is so good.

My opinion? See the movie and tell me why Meryl Streep should not at least be nominated for an academy award.

I do wish the ringtones worked with my cell… Do they work at all?

Review

I recently recived an email from someone who had read my terse response to a movie I really enjoyed, The Devil Wears Prada, back a while ago (July as a matter of fact). This person has offered to send me a copy of the movie and asked that I review the whole shabang. Though every part of my internet caution bells are ringing, I decided to give a try.

I’ll let you know what happens,… meanwhile at least I have something to write about. Lord knows, I can’t talk about the Giants.

M:i:III

it just didn’t work for me. It’s a good “let me forget about my life for two hours and six minutes” movie, and the opening scene is one of the best I have ever seen.

Mission Impossible III. What can I say about it? I saw it yesterday (yawn!!!). Lots of things blowing up, people being shot, breathtaking stunts, Tom Cruise running… I don’t know,… it just didn’t work for me. It’s a good “let me forget about my life for two hours and six minutes” movie, and the opening scene is one of the best I have ever seen. Too bad the rest of the movie doesn’t have the suspense/tension promised in that scene.

If you have to see it, I don’t blame you. It seems like it should really be good judging by the trailers,… and the music is.

Maybe I’m just a “Bourne” fan.

Inside Man

The mystery is compelling and you’ll be trying to figure it out throughout the movie. All in all, an enjoyable movie, but

I saw Inside Man this past weekend. I like Spike Lee and the performances by Jodie Foster, Denzel Washington and Clive Owen are all very good. The mystery is compelling and you’ll be trying to figure it out throughout the movie. All in all, an enjoyable movie, but something seems unsatisfying by the end.

I guess I have lukewarm feelings about it, but it was enjoyable.

good night, and good luck

I’d say this is a must see movie for anyone who does not understand why so many of us are upset by the present administration’s policies and tactics.

I saw the above named movie today. Very nice, and really well done. I was a little surprised because it is not so much about Edward R. Murrow as it is about a time period that seems to parallel our present situation as seen through the eyes of those who lived through it. It’s uplifting, in that despite the many pressures to “just go along,” Murrow and his colleagues make some really tough decisions.

The movie is shot in black and white, and the lighting is superb and dramatic. If you’ve ever wondered why so many of today’s photographers love b/w… this movie will show you why.

I’d say this is a must see movie for anyone who does not understand why so many of us are upset by the present administration’s policies and tactics.

In addition to the well told story, the music is fantastic. Go see it if you get a chance.
