I was testing out a piece of software called TextExpander, and reading the various links in the help-files, when I came across a typing test.
Now, I always knew I was a slow typist, but this slow?

Speedtest
And that’s after I took the test three times. You can try it yourself by clicking in the graphic or the Speedtest link.
Anyway, I’ll write more about TextExpander after I have played with it some more. So far it seems really cool, but mostly for those who often have to type the same phrases over and over. For example, by simply typing a series of letters (which you define), the program will replace them with whatever you have assigned to that combination, whether it be a word, or a short story.
Let’s see if trackbacks works from this blog.
(click to enlarge) I love it!!! Thanks to Mary at Knock-Knock who thanks Sumo Merriment. Meanwhile, call you senators and tell them to filibuster the Alito nomination.

This is a test for sending a future post. It is now 10:45pm. I’ll see what happens if I set the post for 10:50pm.
Totally cool… It just showed up at 10:50pm.
Let’s see if uploading photos works. Here’s the code to display it:

That doesn’t seem to work… hmmm. Okay, now I’m adding the code from Flickr:

Okay,… I had to add the complete path in order for the image to show up. What I had was:
img src='/wp-content/banner.jpg' alt='banner'
But I needed this:
img src="http://planet48.net/starfire/wp-content/banner.jpg" alt='banner'
Also, the upload page does not seem to generate the thumbnail it says it will.
I’ve now changed the settings to use the full path. If it works, then there should be a favicon displayed

After reading stuff in the support forum, it appears that WP doesn’t generate the code for the thumbnail, just the code for the actual image. You have to put the thumbnail stuff in yourself, with a pointer to the larger image I guess.
Okay, so now I have found out not only how to change the themes, but also where to find a boatload of themes. I’ve also been reading up on CSS and XHTML. Fascinating stuff has transpired since I first dabbled in HTML.
I found this draft that I forgot about. I have no idea when I started it. So, I’ll just post it for today.
I’ve just upgraded to version 1.51. By following the directions here, it seemed very easy. I am now wondering if this upgrade has fixed the trackback problem I am having.
For this test, I’m going to try and trackback to the previous posting calledChanging Blog Platforms. I’m hoping it works because I don’t like the b2evolution that much.
BINGO. The trackback worked!!! I’m a very happy camper.
I tried sending a trackback from b2e but it doesn’t show up. Hmmm… I’ll try from blogger and see if that works.
As much as I like WordPress, the trackback (or rather the poor functioning of trackback) is a killer for me. I don’t want to have to work at getting trackback to work,… especially since it is so easy to use in other forms (Typepad (via MarsEdit), Blogger etc.). I may try setting up b2evolution which seems a little more complicated but also more full featured.
There is one more thing I’d like to try though. I’ll see if trackback works using MarsEdit. No, it doesn’t.
I’ve downloaded b2evolution and it does take some getting used to, but I’ll play with it anyway. Perhaps WP will fix their trackback sooner than later, and yes,… b2e trackback works.
With this entry, I am attempting to use trackback via the MarsEdit client.
Consequently, I’ll use the Posting from MarsEdit entry dated Mar. 31 as my test.
That didn’t seem to work either.
I’ve read the help stuff but nothing seems to work. I have changed some settings and will try again. This is a trackback to a blogger site. I used the test site and was able to send myself a trackback, but still can’t trackback to other sites.
